This Father’s Day, we’re going deeper — into flavours that are bold, comforting, and quietly complex. Like the kind of strength that doesn’t need to prove itself, this year’s cake brings together rich, roasted notes and a touch of brightness — a flavour that lingers long after the moment’s passed.

It begins with Marukyu Koyamaen’s Hojicha, finely roasted Japanese green tea known for its earthy depth and smoky warmth. Baked into the sponge and layered through the crèmeux, it gives the cake its grounding character — toasty, gently bitter, and softly aromatic, like the comfort of a familiar voice at the end of a long day.

In contrast, a layer of Mandarin Orange coulis with a touch of yuzu cuts through with tangy sharpness — a clean, zesty lift that surprises the palate, the way Dad’s unexpected humour or quiet wisdom can light up the room when you least expect it.

Balancing it all is a Black Sesame Mousse — rich, nutty, and creamy, it wraps the stronger flavours in a layer of calm and deputy. Beneath it, a crunchy Hojicha Ivoire Chocolate Feuilletine base adds a satisfying crunch, anchoring every soft bite with texture and warmth.

Finished with a sleek glaze and dark chocolate decorations, this cake is all about contrasts that complements — bold and soft, roasted and bright, strong and subtle. It’s a flavour made for the fathers, grandfathers, father figures — and every kind of quiet strength we’re lucky to know.
